DOT SCREENINGS
WHY DO COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S NEED DOT SCREENING?
The Department of Transportation (DOT) physical is a health examination mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers. A DOT physical helps determine if a driver is physically, mentally, and emotionally fit to operate a commercial vehicle. Commercial drivers are safety-sensitive employees that perform a job that can impact their own safety and the public’s safety.
Employers of commercial drivers must comply with federal regulations for DOT physicals. Our certified DOT/FMCSA examiners will issue you a DOT medical card when you meet the DOT physical requirements. Without a valid DOT medical card, you can lose your commercial driver's license (CDL).
The DOT also requires that all CMV drivers take part in a random drug testing program. TruckSpot is a Third-Party Administrator/Consortium that administers random drug testing to ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations. We offer a full-service random drug testing program including affiliations with Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp, Alere Toxicology, CRL, Omega Labs.
